Thai Beef Salad
Serving
Makes enough for 3-4 good portions
Ingredients
- 850g sirloin (or rump or fillet) steak
- 200g salad greens
- 2 small red onions
- 10 kaffir lime leaves
- 3 large mild chillies
- 50g coriander
- 50g mint
- 50g basil
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp fish sauce (though I usually leave this out)
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Method
- Cut beef into bite sized strips
- Char grill / barbeque / pan-fry beef in a little oil until cooked to preference
- Set aside for 5 minutes
- Finely slice the onions
- Shred the kaffir lime leaves
- Dice chillies. Remove seeds if you want to tone down the heat. Mistake. Just sayin'
- Place salad greens, onion, kaffir lime leaves, chillies, coriander, mint and basil into a salad bowl and toss lightly
- Combine the soy sauce, lime juice and sugar (and fish sauce if you like) to make a dressing
- Place the beef on the salad
- Pour over the dressing
- Serve immediately
